The input we received from the community showed that there were several areas of interest in guitars
In Summer 2010
- Our initial focus during MBC Saturday Sessions was to teach new players
In Summer 2011
- we started teaching Electric Guitar and Bass on Saturdays and
- started a group for those with experience and wanted to play together this has continued off and on since then.
In Autumn 2012
- We started new sessions for people wanting to learn and have many children/parents learning together
In Spring 2016
- after a break we started new sessions on Saturdays
- Learn Ukulele. Our previous experience with guitars showed that younger children struggled with fingering chords. That, together with the fact that there is an increasing interest in playing guitars among adults led to a decision that we would help people to learn to play ukulele with the opportunity for those who wanted, and were capable, to transfer their uke knowledge to playing guitar.
- We also wanted to provide something for those who had learnt to play guitar previously and wanted to extend their knowledge. So we started “Guitar Jam” to provide an opportunity for people to play together, learn new techniques and try alternate instruments and equipment.
We believe it’s important for people to play so took the opportunity for performances such as
MBC “Family Nights of Entertainment” and at the Duck Races
